Protests against Wall Street spread across the country Monday as demonstrators marched on Federal Reserve banks and camped out in parks from California to Maine in a show of anger over the wobbly economy and what they see as corporate greed. (Oct. 3)

Michael Moore, filmmaker, activist and author of "Here Comes Trouble," calls on people all over the country to bring the Occupy Wall Street movement to their communities. Later, Moore denounces the state of Georgia for executing Troy Davis.

Corporations are wishy-washy.

And Wall Street is wishy-washy.

People, always vote with your dollars.  And, more importantly, when Corporations and Wall Street are not doing right by the people, VOTE WITH THE ABSENCE OF YOUR DOLLARS.

Consistently denying Corporate America and Wall Street your money will be a clear indication that they need to behave themselves and that you will not allow them to mistreat people. Terminate their greedy, corrupt existence by denying your monetary participation into their power structure.  Couch Potatoes: Do not allow the Reality TV mindset to program your behavior.

Voting with the absence of your dollars carries over into every facet of existence; Useless oil wars, medical insurance mistreatment of patients, you name it.

Finally!  It’s about time!  The Wall Street protest must be carried out far and wide, and SUSTAINED throughout the USA, in every town and city, not confined to NYC.  Deny Wall Street and Wal Mart their existence by denying your monetary participation into their power structure.  Vote with the absence of your dollars.  Carry on, people.

everyone can help out with this. just pay attention and demand more for your money. carry some cash. buying a cup of coffee and paying a fee is nuts. if you find something at wal mart at a good price; use the re-started lay away and not a credit card. sears has a great lay away plan. buy American. starve the beast.

The only thing I can find on this one, is that it's only for toys and electronics, and only for the holidays. Seems kind of bogus to me.

Every 'merkin must stick it to Wall Street and the greedy of the corporations by refusing to buy their excessively priced NON-NECESSITIES. That much should be straightforward for any rationally thinking adult. But I realize most adults cannot understand this concept. This solution is so fundamentally simple that it is below the perception of the great majority of the media-programmed public. Sad.

So you really have no idea right?

Interesting that you talk about the cognitive levels of others and use 'merkin as a word.

There is not a whole lot of "thins" that the majority of Americans but actually sold on wall street.

In case you forgot or haven't been there, wall street is the baning district, banking conglomerate headquarters, investment brokers, insurance companies etc. SO you are suggesting that people not use banks, not invest in the market and not have insurance.

Or are you suggesting that people should not buy anything from a company that is traded or is a subsidiary of a company traded on the NYSE or the NASDAQ?

    Which is it?

The current hopes for economic recovery seem predicated on a return to the idea of Conspicuous Consumption, Bigger and Shinier Toys and Status Symbols, and easy credit. That is not a sustainable lifestyle, and gives the Corporate Overlords their power.

Time to do something different... Not quite sure what, yet, but a different way of living should be at the foundation.

I'm thinking that maybe after all these years, my dad has had the right idea. He uses cash, checks when he REALLY has to, but doesn't own a credit card and never will. I'm just wondering what would happen if we went back to paper instead of plastic.

Then there has to be a way to slow or stop the use of plastic.

I pay for things using my Debit Card (I will NOT mention the bank, I do not want to have to defend myself against Trolls haha) , and I view my Debit Card as cash. I also use good ol' cash. Yep, cash , not credit, is definitely a decent method to go; cash prevents one from spending beyond the supply of cash (no duh, sorry, but it is TRUE.)

indeed... there has to be a way, and the more we talk aobut it themore we find solutions and alternatives together.

my family and i have extremely slowed out consumption, necessity only, funny when we discovered what we have is sufficient... we play a lot of cards and walk more:0

Mountainfirefall, I enjoy your discovery that what you have is sufficient and that you walk more. It is the same with me. I do not want you or anyone to go without anything, but at the same time we do not need to make the greedy powers-that-be any richer, since they do not want to play fair with the rest of us Humans.

      FIGHTING FOR RIGHTS

I paid off my credit cards three years ago. Never late and always paid three times the minimum payment. Bank of America canceled one of my cards last year for lack of use. About three months ago I got bombarded with letters from them begging me to come back and offering me 0% for two years. But I've ignored them. I quit buying on impulse. I only buy what I really need. I try to buy on sale and I use cash when I can. The best move I ever made was move my money out of BOA many years ago when they held a direct deposit check for 11 days before it was credited. They claimed it was a computer glitch yet it showed as a deposit on my statement. When I threatened to close my account suddenly they cleared the check. My mom made a deposit once that showed on her statement a withdrawal. It took ten days to get that straightened out. We closed our accounts and have been happy since. Credit Unions are the way to go.

One of my business partners calls BofA = Bunch Of A$$Holes.

He may be right. It is unfortunate that one of the most unscrupulous banking institutions in the USA decided to use the name America.

From comments I'm reading around NewsVine and around the rest of the Internet, I believe there is a certain percentage of people, who disagree with OWS, that seem to be genuinely surprised the OWS protests continue even now. I DO HOPE there is some actual good work being done above and beyond merely occupying public parks. We The People absolutely must continue to be sick and tired of Greed in Commerce, and must continue to insist on positive change with the threat of denying corporations our money in exchange for their non-essentials.

The media is one of the next objectives of change in eliminating Greed in Commerce, and that will be a tough place to make changes, because the media is where the corporations pour their ad money to create this consumption culture of desire to buy their non-essentials. The various forms of media must go beyond merely reporting, with their own spin, the events of OWS; they must make Greed and Consumption for consumption's sake UNFASHIONABLE in a permanent manner. Once that occurs, if it occurs, then Corporations and Wall Street cannot help but get with the new and improved program.
